The below link is a video tutorial on how to use EA for software modeling:
http://www.sparxsystems.com/resources/demos/eatalkthrough/EA_TalkThrougha.htm
Here is the abstract of this video:
Step1: Create a Requirement Model. It includes both Functional and Nonfunctional requirements. Here will group the logically related requirements into Packages. Each package will show the association of its requirements.once the packages are developed , we can create the rtf document from it. Also you can publish to html for view in browser for wide audience.
Type of requirement ( functional/non functional ) can be detected from the type combo in the properties. Also requirements UI will be colored differently as per the status like confirmed/validated/Still not confirmed........ So very easy to understand the requirements which are yet to confirm and validate.
To add custom properties to requirements we can use the Tag Values window.
Requirement Model also supports wireframes for UI modelling. From Wireframes we can link to requirements also, thus provides more tracablity.
Step2: Create Use Case Model: For the each requirement we created above we have to create the use case model for the same.So each requirement will be realized by a use case.once the use case model is created, we can have the tracability matrix to trace the realizations between requirement and use case and can make sure all the requirements are met.
For each use case inside which we will create the sequence diagram for visualizing the control flow to accomplish that use case.
Step3: Create Business Process Model: Here we will develop a BPMN for the overall process.
Creating Sequence Diagrams for Existing Projects: We can make use of EA o build and run your c# code, and from the output create the sequence diagrams.
Step1. Import the existing c# project into EA.
Step2. Compile and Run the code.
Step3. EA will execute the code
Step4. Go To Stack History and click to create New Sequence Diagram from the stack history.
Thats it!................
